Recruitee vs Teamtailor vs Personio

The European applicant tracking decision compared on what each one leads with, job post limits, published price and who each one suits.

These three are the European shortlist, and they are not really the same product. Recruitee is an applicant tracking system with automation and reporting that grow as you move up its three tiers. Teamtailor is an applicant tracking system built around a careers site, charged per company rather than per user, which is why every hiring manager tends to end up inside it. Personio is an HR suite where recruiting is one module among contracts, absence and payroll. None of the three publishes a price.

When each one is the right choice

Teamtailor wins on one axis and it is a real one. Pricing per company rather than per user means you can put every hiring manager, every interviewer and the founder in the tool without a budget conversation each time, and the careers site is the product rather than a template bolted on. If candidates currently land on a page nobody can edit, that is the buy.

Recruitee is the pick if you want the tracking itself to be strong and you expect to shape it. Read its tiers carefully though. The entry tier caps job posts at five and custom fields at three, screening and matching only appear from the middle tier, and there is a minimum commitment of a year with a discount for paying it up front, so the real comparison is the middle tier against Teamtailor’s single quote.

Personio is the right answer when hiring is not actually the problem you are solving. A company hiring a few times a year, with German payroll, contracts and absence to run, gets more from one suite than from a best of breed tool it opens twice a quarter.

The axis the three of them share

All three are built around an inbox. Job post, careers page, applications arrive, pipeline, decision. That is the right design for a role where enough suitable people apply. For a role where they do not, a better inbox is a better view of the same shortage, and the tier you pick changes nothing about who reads your advert.

Where a monthly search sits beside it

For one hard to fill role we run a monthly search rather than an advert, find the most relevant people in your market whether they are looking or not, tell each of them about that role, and bring the best few to a call with your team, at about a tenth of a recruiting agency. It sits beside whichever of the three you run. If the role is narrow, an embedded software engineer for instance, see the alternatives when the hiring module is the weak part or read how it works.

If we would be a fit, we will bring a shortlist of the best few candidates for your role to the call.
