LinkedIn Recruiter alternatives for small teams
What a seat actually buys, what the cheaper search tools do instead, and what you give up by leaving the one network behind.
LinkedIn does not publish what a Recruiter seat costs, and third party reporting puts a full seat in the region of nine to thirteen thousand a year, which is why a team hiring a handful of people annually goes looking. hireEZ, SeekOut and Juicebox all publish an entry price, all search well beyond one network, and all carry the outreach themselves. What you give up is that network’s own message channel and its first party record of who works where, which is genuinely the best single source there is.
| Criterion | LinkedIn Recruiter | Recruiter Lite | hireEZ | SeekOut | Juicebox |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A price you can read without a call | No. Quoted on company size, seat count and more | No figure on the product page | A published monthly rate for a solo recruiter, with a trial of a week. Larger teams are quoted | A published monthly rate for the entry plan, cheaper paid annually, three seats included | A free tier, then two published per seat monthly rates, with a discount for annual billing |
| How many people you can write to | A hundred to a hundred and fifty messages a month per seat | Thirty a month | Not published as a monthly message cap | Five hundred contact credits a month at entry, seven hundred and fifty a seat above it | Five hundred contact credits at entry, fifteen hundred a seat above it |
| How wide the search goes | More than forty advanced filters, inside its own network | Twenty filters, and only as far as your third degree connections | Search across more than forty five platforms | Over a billion people, with advanced diversity filters above the entry plan | Eight hundred million records from dozens of sources, searched in plain language |
| Where the outreach happens | Inside the network itself, with an assistant that searches, reviews and screens | Inside the network itself | From the platform, with a talent pool and native links to dozens of tracking systems | E-mail, integrated, with sending on your behalf | E-mail, one mailbox at entry and more above it |
| When it is the right choice | You hire constantly, several recruiters share the seats, and the network's own data is the point | One person hires occasionally and wants the network without the full licence | You want search, a talent pool and screening in one place beside your tracking system | Breadth of data matters most and you want the diversity filters | A small team wants plain language search at the lowest published entry price |
When the seat is still the right call
Three things keep a full seat worth paying for. You hire continuously, so the cost spreads across many searches rather than one. Several people share the seats, which is where the message allowance per seat starts to matter. And the roles you hire for are ones where the network’s own record of current employer and title is the deciding data, which is most often true for commercial and management roles in large markets.
The lighter licence is a genuine product, not a trap, for one person hiring now and then. The trade is explicit and published. Far fewer messages a month, half the filters, and your search stops at your own extended network, which in practice means the best person in your city may be invisible to you.
When one of the alternatives is the right call
If the seat sits unused for months at a time, a published monthly rate you can start and stop is simply a better shape. The three platforms here all read wider than one network, which matters more in engineering and industrial roles where plenty of good people keep a thin presence online. Read the contact credit line carefully, because that number, not the search, is what caps how many people you actually reach in a month.
What none of them change
All five are search and messaging tools, and every one of them hands you a list and a keyboard. Somebody on your team still has to work out who on that list is worth writing to, write to each of them differently, answer the replies, and keep doing it while the rest of the job carries on. That is where a seat usually goes quiet, and it is the part no price comparison shows.
Where a monthly search sits beside it
We do that work instead of licensing it to you. For one hard to fill role we find the most relevant people in your market whether they are looking or not, make sure each of them hears about that specific role, answer what comes back, and bring the best few to a call with your team, at about a tenth of a recruiting agency. Nobody on your side needs a seat. If the role is something like a security engineer, see the three search platforms compared in detail or read how it works.
If we would be a fit, we will bring a shortlist of the best few candidates for your role to the call.
