Case study
Palantir Foundry experts: 500 reached, one hire
Six months of ads had brought nobody. We read 40,000 people in the market, reached the best 500 of them, and the client hired a month after handover.
What had already been tried
A company needed data platform experts who had really worked in Palantir Foundry. The ad had been running for six months and had brought nobody worth an interview. Searching by hand ate days, and reaching people at the scale the role needed was not realistic for one recruiter with a day job.
Why the ad brought nobody they wanted
The criteria were narrow: hands on Foundry work, not a certificate. In a market that small, almost everybody who qualifies is employed, is paid well for exactly that skill, and reads no ads at all. The ad was not badly written. It was invisible to the only people who could have answered it.
What we did
We read the whole market for those criteria on LinkedIn, Xing and company websites, 40,000 people, and kept the 500 who genuinely fitted this role. Reaching them was taken care of for the client. Within two weeks the whole relevant market had heard about the role.
| 40,000 | People read in the market |
|---|---|
| 500 | Reached and told about the role |
| 137 | Answered |
| 40 | Interviews for the client |
| one | Hired |
Reached means the person was told about this role. Answered means they replied. The 40 interviews are the ones the client actually ran.
What the recruiter did
Ran interviews. Nothing else. No searching, no writing, no chasing. What she remarked on was not the number who answered, it was that she had nothing to do until the interviews started.
How it ended
One hire, a month after the first candidates were handed over, for a role that six months of advertising had not filled.
What it would have cost otherwise
A recruiting agency charges a share of the first year’s salary, if it finds anyone at all. This costs about a tenth of that, per month, for as long as the search runs.
