Case study
Experienced AI engineer: 800 reached, two hires
Three months of ads brought nobody who passed the interview. We read 70,000 people, reached the best 800, and the client hired two of them in six weeks.
What had already been tried
The company had been advertising for three months. Applications arrived and almost none of them survived the selection interview. The people they wanted were not in that pile.
Why the title is the hard part
Thousands of people carry the title. Very few have the specific skills this role needed, and several other conditions had to hold at the same time. A title match is not a skill match, so an ad for this role collects volume and almost no signal. The people who could do it were employed, doing well, and applying nowhere.
What we did
We read 70,000 relevant people in the market against the real criteria, not the title, and kept the 800 strongest for this role. Reaching them was taken care of for the client, and the interested ones took a time in the client’s calendar.
| 70,000 | People read in the market |
|---|---|
| 800 | Reached and told about the role |
| 70 | Interviews for the client |
| two | Hired |
How it ended
Seventy interviews in six weeks and two hires, from a role three months of advertising had not filled once. Nobody on the client’s side searched or wrote to anyone. They interviewed, they chose, they made the offers.
What it would have cost otherwise
Two agency placements at a share of the first year’s salary each. This costs about a tenth of that, per month, for as long as the search runs.
